If you’re missing university choir, theatre, and singing harmony with talented voices, Mixology would love to meet you!
Mix auditions are done by Zoom first, with the director, Chris Arnold, then in person after a few weeks of in-person rehearsals with Mix.
Good to know:
- Sight-reading is helpful but not required when learning Mix repertoire
- Learning tracks and sheet music for your audition song will be provided
- All music is a cappella
- Auditions are done off-book while singing in a quartet
- All voice ranges welcome
- Mix is competing in Germany at the world championship in Spring 2026 – new singers are invited, but not required, to join us, if registration deadlines permit. If not, you can expect to have a couple of weeks without rehearsals in March.
- We don’t do a ton of choreography, but we are focusing on stage presence in 2026 as we approach the world championship
- Fees are the equivalent of approximately $40/month and are billed one season or year at a time.

Want to check us out for yourself first? Come sit in on a rehearsal. We’ll probably teach you a tag, and you’ll be provided a guest music book so you can choose to join in if you like.
Want to know who you’re getting in the Mix with? We are a smallish (25 singers) group of aaahmazing voices. Many of our singers have a history of singing in University choirs, church choirs, and barbershop a cappella choirs within the Waterloo Region or Ontario. All have a love for singing harmony. Members are music teachers, music majors, choir singers, past and present directors of other groups, and people who simply love to sing.
Used to instrumental accompaniment? Mix does not use instruments. Our voices are our instruments, including some pretty great vocal percussion. It takes a minute to get used to it, but once you fall in love with a cappella, it’s hard to love anything else!
Hate choreography? Cool. Most of the time, so do we. What we lack in choreo, we make up for in a killer sound and natural stage presence.
Hate matchy-matchy costuming? Also cool. We make room for individual style and comfort on stage.
Ever sung a tag? If no, Chris will fix that! If yes, sweet! So many more to come 🙂
